Holiday in the Woods 2012

The Holiday in the Woods camp out was an action packed weekend - 122 girls from all over Manatee county in all. Here are some pictures from the weekend:

All the girls outside one of our cabins the first night (12 girls attended)

Madison, MacKenzie and Kamdyn getting ready to color their tie dye shirts

Not an easy task in the dark, but Kamdyn is doing great here

Sarah, Ashley and Delaney are waiting for their turn

Here are Brianna, Olivia, Ashley and Katana working on the ice breaker game at the Main Lodge

Madison and Kamdyn being silly at the pumpkin decorating station

Kelsey working on her pumpkin design

Gillian thinking about which pumpkin to choose

All the girls doing the first of 23 photo tasks for the big scavenger hunt of the day. This one was "Line up your troop from tallest to shortest girl". In order from the left: Kelsey, Kamdyn, Brianna, Madison, MacKenzie, Ashley, Katana, Sarah, Gillian, Kelsey, Delaney and Olivia

Then it was time for the Flag Ceremony with all 122 girls attending. Here the Cadettes are raising the American flag...

...followed by the Girl Scout flag.

All girls have to be quiet during the ceremony, and then the Girl Scout Law  and the Girl Scout Rules are recited.

All done!

All the girls outside the Main Lodge. Back from left: Brianna, Ashley, Gillian, Madison, Katana, Kamdyn, MacKenzie, Delaney. Front from left: Sarah, Delaney, Olivia with Kelsey in front.

Another scavenger hunt task: Capture a picture with all girls in the air

The first craft station for the day, here the girls are with their finished God's Eyes. Thanks Gillian for your expert help in getting some of the girls started on theirs! From left: Kelsey, MacKenzie, Delaney, Gillian, Katana, Kamdyn, Kelsey, Olivia, Madison, Ashley, Sarah and Brianna

This one was "All the girls under a bed" task. From left: MacKenzie, Madison, Kelsey, Olivia, Kamdyn (back) Kelsey, Katana, Sarah (front) Gillian, Delaney, Brianna, Ashley.

By the Braden River. Back from the left: Brianna, Katana, Mackenzie, Kelsey, Kamdyn, Kelsey, Ashley, Sarah, Madison. Front from the left: Olivia, Gillian, Delaney.

Another task, "All the girls in a row of the steps of the fire tower".

Here they had to spell out a word using themselves. It says HELLO in case you can't see it! :-)

The last craft of the day (there was a bead bracelet before this one as well). Here they made Thanksgiving wreaths. At the table from the left: Olivia, MacKenzie, Kamdyn, Katana, Sarah, Ashley.

Gillian shows of her newly crafted wreath

This task required them to take a photo of the entire troop with the American flag in it.

The tie dye t-shirts from the previous night came out great! Everyone used their imaginations and came up with some really cool designs. Thanks to Delaney for some expert tips in how to make tie dye shirts!

Saturday afternoon it was time to work on their badge. The girls learned how to build a fire and some safety rules to follow. They also learned the next day how to clean up a fire pit and leave it in great shape for the next user, Girl Scout style!

Here is Ashley, deeply concentrating on making her mini A-frame fire.

After some games on Saturday night, it was time for a Dance Party! Here the girls are doing a Conga Line! The music was pumping, the lights blinking and the girls had a great time!

After all that dancing it was time to do some more badge work. How to cook on a fire! They all made banana boats, cooked in the coals of the fire and filled with peanut butter chips, chocolate chips and mini marshmallows. It was a yummy and gooey treat. After that it was more treats in the form of smores. Lights were out at 11 PM, and this night I don't think anyone had a problem falling asleep, after a very action packed day... :-)

The next morning it was packing and clean up time. All in all a great weekend with a lot of fun!
